Bollywood – the word means a lot of different things to different people. For some, it is the world of glitz and glam, a cornucopia of opportunities to fulfil every dream. For others, it is the land of nepotism that lacks authenticity and intersectionality. Irrespective of the perspective, however, each and every one of us is fascinated by this crazy industry. Over the years, Bollywood has seen it all: success, fame, scandals, vulnerability, accolades, parties, petty fights and so much more. Despite this, it has stood the test of time.
In a world where peace is hard to achieve and being politically incorrect roils people, it has provided a source of entertainment to every generation, where one can forget the issues of the world and also their own personal problems for a little while. From the amazing life of elites, to stories of the common man and real-life heroes, the film industry provides a sneak-peek into the lives that we have never lived or wish to live. These films provide stunning visuals, awesome music, and unforgettable characters. But most importantly, these films make us feel. They make us angry, sad, ecstatic, annoyed, afraid all at the same time – an emotional rollercoaster. And this is exactly what sets it apart from other film industries. These films make us feel and also make us think.
Therefore, it doesn’t matter whether you love it or hate it, you can never get rid of it. Bollywood has been and always will be a huge part of India and the lives of its people.
